You will receive an appointment letter with details of time, date and place of the appointment.
The letter may also include specific instructions for you to follow.

Children's Hospital Fracture Clinic Reception

  • The RVH/RBHSC operates a hourly tariff parking system. Please give yourself plenty of time to travel and to park.
  • Appointments may take longer if additional x-rays or changes of plaster are required.
  • Go to the department named in your letter and register with reception. Bring your admission letter so that your details can be checked by the receptionist. Advise the receptionist of changes to your personal details.
  • The fracture department operates multiple clinics, so do not be alarmed if patients who arrive after you are seen sooner they may be attending another clinic.
  • Bring a list of your child’s current medication and inform the medical or nursing team if you have any allergies.
  • We aim to see each patient within their allotted appointment time. Please be aware waiting periods vary depending on which clinic is being attended and the complexity of each individual case. Please bring a book or a magazine to pass the time as you wait.
  • It is advisable to wear loose fitting clothing to aid inspection and assessment of your child’s injury.
  • Space within the fracture clinic waiting room is limited so it is encouraged that where possible the child attends without siblings.
  • The Belfast trust is a smoke free zone. Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not allowed anywhere on the trust grounds.
